ALBANY – With a little more than two months before the Sept. 13 Democratic primary, Gov. Cuomo has filled out his campaign team with firms that have ties to Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Veteran operative Maggie Moran will be the campaign’s full-time general consultant in charge of managing day-today operations and strategy.

Moran worked for Cuomo’s campaign in 2010 and served as the New Jersey campaign manager for Vice President Al Gore’s presidential run in 2000 and as the director of rapid response for President Bill Clinton in 1996.

In previous years, Cuomo’s campaign manager has been longtime aide and confidante Joseph Percoco, who earlier this year was found guilty of three federal corruption charges.

Cuomo, facing a Democratic primary challenge from the left from actress Cynthia Nixon, has hired a “diverse, top-tier creative, production and operations team for the campaign, which will work hand in hand with our supporters across the state,” spokeswoman Abbey Fashouer said.

In addition to Moran’s newly created BlueStrat, the governor also hired Adelstein Liston Media (AL Media) and Message Audience & Presentation for media and production work.

AL Media has worked for a host of campaigns, including Obama’s successful 2012 presidential reelection effort. The firm counts as a senior adviser former Hillary Clinton aide Karen Finney, who was also communications director for Sen. Tim Kaine’s vice presidential bid and once worked for the New York City Board of Education.

Message Audience & Presentation was founded by James Aldrete, who as a member of Obama and Clinton presidential campaign media teams focused on Hispanic media and engagement.
