Woman, 67, is shot at bus stop

-

A 67-year-old woman was shot in the face while waiting at a Staten Island bus stop Tuesday, leaving her in extremely critical condition, officials and witnesses said.

The woman, whom relatives identified as Fran Williams, was waiting for the bus on Jersey St. near West Ave. in New Brighton when she was shot twice about 12:30 p.m., officials said.

Residents believe she was struck by stray bullets.

“It definitely wasn’t meant for her,” said a neighbor who only gave his name as John. “Sometimes people shoot at each other on the street.”

Medics rushed Williams to Richmond University Medical Center.

The woman’s panicked relatives tried to console one another at the scene before rushing to the hospital.

No arrests have been made.
