METSGAMEDAY

-

The Mets once again failed to provide Jacob deGrom with even a shred of support. But this time, they escaped in dramatic fashion.

Pinch hitter Brandon Nimmo clobbered a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel the Mets to a 3-0 victory over the Phillies at Citi Field Wednesday night.

DeGrom hurled eight scoreless innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out seven in another sparkling performance. His ERA is down to 1.68, the best in the majors. He’s earned no decisions in 10 of his 19 outings this season.

Vince Velazquez started for the Phillies and held the Mets scoreless for six innings, surrendering just two hits.
