Judge releases mountain of new Cohen information

A judge sifting through the cache of documents and messages belonging to President Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen released 883,634 more items to prosecutors, bringing the total to more than 2 million pieces of evidence.

Special master Barbara Jones — appointed by a federal judge in April to pore over the documents, cell phone calls and other electronic communications that the FBI scooped up in a raid of Cohen’s law office and homes — noted the new document dump on Friday involved items “that were not designated privileged, partially privileged or highly personal,” and that her “review of the remaining items is ongoing.”

The April 9 FBI raid came after Manhattan federal prosecutors announced they were investigating Cohen for violating campaign finance law by paying off porn star Stormy Daniels and other women to keep quiet about their alleged sexual affairs with Trump.

Cohen, 51, is also being investigated for bank and wire fraud in his business dealings. He has denied the allegations and hasn’t been charged.

Jones released 1,310,365 items to prosecutors earlier this month after determining they weren’t protected by attorney-client privilege.

Investigators are also still trying to extract the contents of Cohen’s Blackberry phone.
