GRANDE GESTURE
Pete gives fiancée his hero pa’s FDNY badge
One month after giving Ariana Grande an engagement ring, Pete Davidson has gifted his fiancée another precious piece of jewelry: his late father’s FDNY badge. That gesture has some people upset.
The “Saturday Night Live” comic, 24, took to Instagram on Saturday to share a photo of pop star Grande, 25, sporting Scott Davidson’s FDNY badge on a necklace. Davidson, a firefighter in Brooklyn Heights, was killed in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
While many fans were supportive of Davidson’s decision to give his bride-to-be something with such sentimental value, others felt differently — prompting Davidson to defend his decision.
“No girl should ever wear your dad’s chain. So disrespectful,” one user wrote.
In response, Davidson made it clear that the “God Is a Woman” singer is more than just “some girl.”
“For (your) information that’s not just some girl. That’s my fiancé (sic). She’s the greatest person I know,” he wrote. “I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much.”
Grande, for her part, commented on the photo, “I love u more than anything.”
The pendant has Scott’s badge number, 8418, written across the front — numbers Grande recently had inked on her foot as a tribute.
The high-profile couple, who recently moved in together in a multimillion dollar Chelsea pad, were engaged in June after one month of dating.
“I feel like I won a contest, so sick,” Davidson told Jimmy Fallon of having Grande as a fiancée. “It’s f--king lit, Jimmy. It’s so lit.”
