KO ‘extreme’ high court nominee: gov

Gov. Cuomo wants Washington lawmakers to target extremism — from the White House.

Cuomo railed against the Trump administration and its “extreme” agenda Saturday as he called on the Senate to block the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

“The U.S. Senate must do everything it can to stop the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh,” Cuomo said as he was joined by members of the Congressional Black Caucus and the state’s congressional delegation at the Conrad hotel in lower Manhattan.

“It dawned on me,” Cuomo said. “These are not a series of random episodes. We elected an extreme conservative President who is dedicated to an extreme conservative agenda with an extreme conservative Congress.”

Cuomo took aim at Kavanaugh’s position on gun control, warning that if the conservative judge is approved, the state SAFE Act could come under fire.

The 2013 law expanded the definition and restricted the resale of assault weapons in the state, banned magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds and expanded background checks.

The national gun control nonprofit is backing the incumbent in his reelection bid for governor as he faces a challenge from actress-cum-gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon.
