To our readers: We’re not going anywhere
Monday was an extremely difficult day at the Daily News. We were forced to lay off many outstanding journalists.
We want our readers and the city to know: We’re not going anywhere. We remain committed to delivering you first-class reporting online at nydailynews.com and in print.
We will continue to do the stories like the ones that exposed the coverup of public health hazards in the city’s public housing development. Our coverage of police, schools, transit, corrections and City Hall will remain second to none, as will our coverage of the state capital, where chronic corruption demands intense scrutiny.
We will deliver breaking news and commentary, with attitude, on sports, entertainment and the culture.
Our Editorial Board and opinion page will continue to be a leading forum for debate on issues vital to the city and state, while holding the powerful accountable, and we will continue to be a check on abuses of power in Washington.
In our 99-year history, we’ve been through many tough times. We’re not dead yet. Not even close.
