Time for ‘Pretty’ on B’way

- Brian Niemietz

They want the fairy tale — on Broadway.

A soldout crowd saw “Pretty Woman: The Musical” bring the classic 1990 Julia Roberts film to life over the weekend. And real-life pretty woman Elle Macpherson is expected to make a backstage visit after Tuesday’s performance, according to a source close to the show.

Opening night was a visual treat for theatergoers at the Nederlander Theatre.

“One of the biggest moments of the night was Vivian and Edward’s date at the opera where the audience audibly gasped when Samantha Barks, making her Broadway debut, walked onstage in the iconic red gown, designed for Broadway by Gregg Barnes,” according to one theater aficionado.

The show is scored by the Canadian pop duo of Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.

Also over the weekend, at the Barrymoree, Kristin Chenoweth and Faith Prince were spotted checking out a performance of “The Band’s Visit” on Saturday.
