New York Daily News

Eyes and ears needed on the beat

-

Charlotte, N.C.: I have no ties to NYC but, nevertheless, I paid for an online subscription to the Daily News. You must ask yourself why I would think it worth my hardearned dollar to do this. The very simple answer is that I thoroughly enjoyed the content, the content written by the dozens of journalists that were just summarily dismissed by tronc. I have read that many of the journalists have been faithful, loyal and productive employees of your paper for decades. In the current environment, with so much obfuscation happening inside the White House and Congress, those of us who seek and value the truth find it only seems to exist in the pieces reported by some of the outstanding journalists out there who, for nothing other than the love of their job and commitment to search for and report the truth, exist on very little sleep and and even less money. I know that I am not in the minority when I say that I thank God for them everyday and respect and admire them for the job that they do.

I do not know what propelled you to abruptly fire these people but I cannot believe that it is a reason that would ever justify what you did. I hope that every single person fired will move on to have great success with another, more appreciative publication. You do not deserve them. Kris Collings
