N. Korea returns remains of GIs

-

A U.S. military plane has retrieved the remains of 55 American servicemen killed during the Korean War, the White House said Thursday.

“A U.S. Air Force C-17 aircraft containing remains of fallen service members has departed Wonsan, North Korea,” according to an official statement.

The dead soldiers remains will be brought back to the U.S. so their families can give them proper burials. About 5,300 remains are still in North Korea, according to the Department of Defense.

The return of the servicemen was part of an agreement hammered out during President Trump’s summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un earlier this month.

“Today, the Chairman is fulfilling part of the commitment he made to the President to return our fallen American service members,” the White House said in a statement.
