WISHED IVANKA HAD MARRIED TOM
President Trump's No. 1 draft pick for potential son-in-law: Five-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady.
The President, in an oftused line, jokingly paints the Patriots signal-caller as a marital MVP while verbally sacking incumbent Jared Kushner. The real estate developer, known more for his buildings than his deep ball, married Trump's daughter Ivanka in 2009 — and provided him with three grandkids.
“(I) could have had Tom Brady,” Trump has cracked of past prospects for his daughter's hand. “Instead, I got Jared Kushner.”
The comment, repeated by several people who heard the gag, was reported by The New York Times.
Ivanka Trump is rumored to have dated the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Brady, a future NFL Hall of Famer, before she married the 6-foot-3, 190pound real estate developer. Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen are parents to a pair of kids.
Trump, a longtime Brady booster, long ago described the rising New England star as a winner who would make a super spouse for Ivanka. The dynamic duo “would make a great combination,” he opined in a 2004 Playboy magazine interview.
President Trump's first wife, Ivana, revealed in her book “Raising Trump” that the matchmaker-in-chief tried in vain to make a love connection between his daughter and Brady.
“At one point, Donald wanted her to date Tom Brady, the quarterback,” she writes in the memoir. “He said, ‘You have to meet him!' But Ivanka wasn't into it.”
Brady declined an invitation to the White House to celebrate the New England Patriots' Super Bowl win, citing “personal family matters” — a move that reportedly irked the President.
Despite any misgivings, the couple dubbed “Javanka” remain solidly in the President's orbit after 18 months in the White House. They've proved to be dependable for Trump amid record-setting turnover in the administration, according to The Times report.
The couple also appears to be committed to life in Washington, where they rent a mansion and have enrolled their children in school.
Ivanka Trump this week announced she was closing her fashion brand to focus on her role as an aide to the President.
“I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business,” she said, “but I do know that my focus for the forseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington, so making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners.”
Kushner's security clearance was restored in May after it was downgraded in connection to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2017 presidential election.
