Mark Hamill gets his old friend back, even temporarily.

Days after Lucasfilm announced that Carrie Fisher will appear in the upcoming “Star Wars” movie in the form of old, unused footage, Hamill (left) expressed his joy and sorrow at the loophole. “It's bittersweet facing my final chapter without her,” Hamill tweeted Sunday. “She is simply irreplaceable. I'm finding solace in the fact that she won't BE replaced .”

The Daily News previously reported that Fisher, who died in December 2016, would appear in Episode IX

“We desperately loved Carrie Fisher,” director J.J. Abrams said in a statement Friday.

“With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie's legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”
