No charges vs. Moonves in sex abuse case
Scandal-plagued CBS honcho Les Moonves won’t be charged in a sexual abuse case was filed to authorities by an unidentified woman this past February.
Los Angeles prosecutors opted not to pursue the case after determining the statute of limitations had passed, according to a charge evaluation worksheet obtained by the Daily News. The accuser claimed to authorities that Moonves committed three offenses — one in 1986, and two more in 1988.
“Victim encountered suspect through employment in the television industry,” reads paperwork filed by the Los Angeles Country District Attorney. “Victim has reported multiple incidents of assault by suspect. Victim disclosed the second two incidents to a friend approximately a year before making report to law enforcement.”
Specifics of the woman’s allegations were not immediately revealed. Moonves, 68, was accused of sexual misconduct by six women in an exposé published last week by The New Yorker.
Ronan Farrow, who authored report, said Tuesday that the newly surfaced allegations did not seem to be from one of the women he spoke to.
“Note that these appear to stem from allegations not included in our story, from a different, additional woman. (Prosecutors concluded her claims were outside of the statute of limitations.),” Farrow tweeted.
Four of the six women who spoke out in The New Yorker report accused Moonves of forcible touching or kissing.
