A would-be burglar beaten to death by two Queens brothers was wanted for a shooting last week in Baltimore, officials said.

Shamel Shavuo, 26, was killed about 2:40 a.m. Monday when he tried to break into a home on Williamson Ave. near 197th St. in Jamaica.

Baltimore police said Shavuo was a suspect in a July 20 shooting.

The 44-year-old victim was wounded, but survived.

The shooting was one of nine reported in Baltimore that night, with one resulting in death.

In the Queens incident, Joel Paul, 27, and Michael Paul, 16, told detectives Shavuo knocked on the door and then tried to force his way in.

The brothers confronted him outside and hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

Michael Paul told detectives he heard a knock on the door and answered, thinking it was a pizza he ordered, a source said.

The intruder got his foot in the door, the second source said, but the teen managed to force him back outside and lock the door.

The Paul brothers’ mother, Melinda Pitter, 57, who was home, called on Joel Paul to help, and the two brothers then confronted Shavuo outside the home, said sources.

The brothers told police that the intruder claimed to live at their home in the past, sources said.

Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said the allegations the dead man tried to break in “need to be corroborated.”

Shea hinted that Shavuo had a criminal record in New York, noting he “has crossed our path before,” but didn’t go into details.

The Paul brothers were released without charges, but the Queens District Attorney’s inquiry is ongoing.
