Uber-crazy spoof sees ‘diss’ dude get dunked

- BY BRIAN NIEMIETZ AND THOMAS TRACY

He wanted an Uber, but he got a lift.

Tourists in Midtown enjoyed free theater as a large man appearing to be an angry Uber driver picked up his supposed passenger and tossed him into a fountain outside the New York Hilton Midtown blocks from Central Park.

“Don't disrespect me like that!” the larger man shouted as he lifted up the other guy and threw him into the fountain (below). A woman named Kara Flagg posted the video on Facebook and wrote a note saying the passenger had it coming.

“The big dude was totally right for doing this,” she wrote. According to Flagg, the argument appeared to start inside a vehicle belonging to the “big dude” then poured onto the street after the smaller guy “ended up smacking the big guy square in the face.”

Flagg said she figured out it was a hoax when she went home that night and did some poking around on the Internet.

“The performance was compelling and had everybody in the crowd shocked,” Flagg told the Daily News.

According to Mediate.com, which also posted video of the incident, the driver is a social media performer who has done this sort of thing before. An Instagram page belonging to danieljean56 seems to confirm their discovery.

There were no police reports of the incident, which appears to have taken place Monday.
