DREAM TEAM TAKES FIELD

The crowd at Wednesday afternoon's game at Yankee Stadium will notice some extra “winners” on the field just before the start of the game — nine New York-area youngsters who submitted winning essays on the meaning of Yankee tradition in the Daily News' annual Field of Dreams writing contest.

The kids all earned a oncein-a-lifetime opportunity — to run onto the field with the Yankees' starting nine, then stand next to the players and sing along to “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

This year's Field of Dreams all-star lineup is Bridget Merges, 9; Akiva Boyarsky, 14; Evangeline Gorke, 12; Nicholas Canny, 13; Gabriel D'Annunzio-Karamouzos, 9; Charlie Glacken, 9; David Falzone, 13; Hunter Yarmy, 8; and Paul Jaccoi, 12.
