Cops probe if Cavs’ Smith threw phone at fan

Police are investigating a report accusing Cleveland Cavaliers star JR Smith of grabbing and throwing a fan's cell phone in Chelsea, officials said Wednesday.

Smith (photo) was on 10th Ave. near W. 18th St — a short distance from the 10 Oak nightclub — about 2:30 a.m. Sunday when a 20year-old fan walked up to him to snap a photo with his cell phone.

Angered, the 32-year-old ex-Knick grabbed the phone and hurled it across the street before storming off.

The victim, a resident of Pennsylvania, used another person's phone to call 911 and filed a criminal mischief complaint with police.

Sources told TMZ Sports, which first reported the story, that Smith told the victim “no photos,” but the fan snapped one anyway.

No arrests have been made.

“This is nonsense and we do not have anything to say about nonsense,” Smith's lawyer Alex Spiro said.

This is not the first time Smith has been investigated by police.

In 2015, he was accused of choking a 19-yearold in Chelsea after the teen quipped about the hoopster's trade to Cleveland.

The alleged attack happened outside Artichoke Basille's Pizza at W. 17th St. and 10th Ave. — a block from where the recent clash occurred.

Smith was never charged in the 2015 attack, officials said.

Smith, who is a New Jersey native, is in his fifth season with the Cavaliers and 15th year overall in the NBA. He played for the Cavaliers when the team won the 2016 NBA championship over the Golden State Warriors and, during the celebrations, Smith was spotted many times without a shirt.
