Gunshot stirs fear in B’klyn

- Thomas Tracy

A gunshot fired on a downtown Brooklyn street sparked panic and a large police response Wednesday, officials said.

The single shot was fired at the corner of Jay St. and Willoughby St. about 11:15 a.m. near the entrance to the Jay St.-MetroTech subway station and within a short distance of a Starbucks.

No one was hit by the bullet, cops said.

The sound of the shot caused people on the street to run for cover. Some buildings in the area underwent a brief lockdown, refusing to let anyone leave the premises, according to sources.

No arrests were made.
