RANGERS 15-0 vs. Red Wings

January 23, 1944

-

Was anyone even in the net??? The Rangers’ 15-goal loss at Detroit’s Olympia Stadium still stands as the most lopsided in NHL history. The Red Wings fired 58 shots on Rangers goalie Ken McAuley, who saved 43 of them, while the Blueshirts only managed nine shots. The Red Wings exploded for eight goals in the third period, led by a third-period hat trick for Syd Howe. Detroit nearly scored 16 goals, as the final shot went into the net just after the buzzer sounded.
