Source: Enunwa out 1-2 weeks with thumb injury
The Daily News has learned that wide receiver Quincy Enunwa is expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a thumb injury. Enunwa missed his second consecutive practice Thursday with what Todd Bowles called a “sore” hand.
Enunwa, who was spotted with a wrap around his right hand at the start of practice, was limited throughout the spring in his comeback from a neck injury that kept him out all of last season.
The Jets will play their preseason opener against the Falcons on Aug. 10.
NOTES: Safety Marcus Maye ditched his red nocontact jersey for the first time in team drills this camp. The Jets have wisely taken a cautious approach during Maye’s return from offseason arthroscopic ankle surgery.
Sixth-round rookie cornerback Parry Nickerson, who was having a standout camp, tweaked his hamstring toward the end of practice trying to cover Terrelle Pryor on a deep route.
Tight end Jordan Leggett missed practice for a second consecutive day. Running back Thomas Rawls, who has a history of being nicked up in Seattle, missed practice.
Veteran nose tackle Steve McLendon, who made an impassioned mid-practice speech to teammates Tuesday due to lackluster play, was given a rest day.
