Firefighter & EMT held in DWI raps
A FDNY firefighter and EMT, both off duty, were arrested on drunken-driving charges in separate incidents Saturday, officials said.
Michael Profeta, 37, was pulled over after he was caught speeding along the Brooklyn Queens Expressway near the Wythe Ave. exit.
Cops watched him haphazardly change lanes before pulling him over shortly after midnight — and quickly learned that he was drunk behind the wheel.
Profeta was charged with drunken driving, moving from a lane unsafely, speeding and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test.
A few hours later, FDNY EMT Brian McIntyre, 31, was arrested on drunken driving charges in Far Rockaway after he was found sitting in his car with his engine running on Beach 24th St. and Seagirt Blvd.
When cops approached, McIntyre was clearly drunk, although he refused to take a Breathalyzer test, sources with knowledge of the case said. Cops charged him with drunken driving.
Both men were expected to be arraigned Saturday. An FDNY spokesman said the department is reviewing both cases.
Profeta, assigned to Engine Company 221 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was one of three offduty firefighters arrested for taking part in a bar brawl just steps from Citi Field following the Mets home opener in April 2016.
