Omarosa tapes a li’l sticky

- BY DENIS SLATTERY AND CHRIS SOMMERFELDT

Only the tapes can tell.

Omarosa Manigault-Newman sowed confusion Friday, claiming she once heard a tape of President Trump using the “N-Word” even though her own tell-all book says otherwise.

The reality TV star-turnedWhite House aide made national headlines after excerpts of her forthcoming book, “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” were leaked to several news outlets.

The explosive book paints Trump as an uninformed narcissist who casually dropped the Nword during his time as the star of “The Apprentice” and continued to do so after taking office.

At the crux of the book is the fact that Manigault Newman cites “sources” as having told her of the times Trump used the “N-word,” acknowledging she never heard it herself.

But the ex-“Apprentice” contestant had another story to tell when she went on NPR Friday afternoon.

“Hearing it changed everything for me,” Manigault-Newman said of what she called the “N-word tape.”

Asked about the discrepancy, Manigault-Newman pointed to a section at the very end of her book, which she claimed clarifies that she once heard the tape. In fact, the section doesn’t say so at all, but only refers to one of her “sources” who had obtained “an audio track” of Trump using the racial epithet.

“I heard the the tape,” she said when pressed by NPR’s Rachel Martin.

Manigault-Newman is releasing the book next week. She has promised an "explosive" account of her tenure in the Trump administration and detailing her reasons for heading for the exit after less than a year.
