Goon grabs 8-yr.-old’s cell phone

- BY THOMAS TRACY

A mugger menaced a Bronx boy on his way home from summer camp, plucking the youngster’s brand new iPhone from his hand then sending him off, police said Thursday.

“Go upstairs before I hurt you,” the tall, lanky creep hissed at 8-year-old Jaden inside the vestibule of his Mott Haven apartment building Monday, the boy told the Daily News.

The robber (inset) followed the child into a building on St. Anns Ave. near E. 139th St. in Mott Haven at 5:50 p.m., and asked him for directions, cops said.

He asked the young victim for directions before he snatched the child’s cell phone, authorities said.

“I was scared .... The only thing I worried about was my phone,” Jaden recounted. “He was trying to pull, and I was trying to pull back…. I tried to pull it and he snatched it out. ”

Police on Thursday released video surveillance images of the teen attacker in the hopes that someone recognizes him.

He was last seen running up St. Anns Ave.

Jaden ran upstairs crying, and told his mom, “This guy told me he wants to hurt me and took my phone!”

“It’s just scary and very traumatic,” Jaden’s mom, Adrian Davis, said. “As a single mom, I work hard, I do construction. And I work very hard and I like to buy my kid nice things.”

She got him the phone Friday — four days before the robbery.

“He asked me for an iPhone X, but I said, ‘You know what, somebody will take that from you. Let me buy the six.’”

Jaden chimed in, “But somebody took it!”

Now, Davis said she’s thinking of moving out of the neighborhood, and will likely do less overtime at her job, so he won’t have to walk home alone again.

Police describe the suspect as black, about 6 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He wore a gray shirt, black pants and black-and-white sneakers during the crime.
