‘Chock’ & aww: Don can’t spell

- BY JILLIAN JORGENSEN AND DAN RIVOLI

President Trump called Gov. Cuomo's recent comments on America's greatness “really dumb” — but when he tried to take another jab at the governor in the same tweet, the commander-inchief sort of “choked.”

“Wow! Big pushback on Governor Andrew Cuomo for his really dumb statement about America's lack of greatness. I have already MADE America Great Again, just look at the markets, jobs, military - setting records and we will do even better,” Trump began his tweet.

And then, the piece de resistance: “Andrew ‘chocked' badly, mistake!”

Trump quickly tried to cover his own mistake, deleting the tweet and sending out a new version that was less chock full of errors.

Then he fired off another tweet saying Cuomo's commentary would mean “there doesn't seem to be much reason to ever vote for him,” and trying to instigate some sibling rivalry with the governor's brother Chris Cuomo, a CNN journalist.

“This could be a career threatening statement by Andrew Cuomo, with many wanting him to resign — he will get higher ratings than his brother Chris!” Trump tweeted.

The misspelled missive comes after Cuomo on Wednesday riffed on the President's slogan — and, in citing the country's battles with prejudice, said America “was never really that great.”

In a call with reporters Friday, Cuomo said his comments had been “inartful.”

"The expression I used the other day was inartful. I want to be very clear,” Cuomo said. “Of course America is great, and of course America has always been great, no one questions that.”

But he went on to launch a 15-minute broadside against Trump, who has become a favorite target as the governor heads into next month's Democratic primary.

“I also think the President is vindictive, petty and small,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo said Trump's idea of “greatness” is not great at all — saying the President wanted to roll back women's reproductive rights, separate children from their families and keep immigrants out of the country.

“His philosophy is not just repugnant to New York, his philosophy is anti-American,” Cuomo said. “His vision of America isn't great at all.”

Cuomo also took issue with Trump's attacks on New York as a high-tax state — saying Trump himself had contributed to that by rolling back the federal deduction on state and local taxes, a key savings for homeowners in states that just happen to vote Democratic.
