Chomper thief took bite out of hack’s wallet

The son of a cab driver bitten on the arm by a thief said the incident has hurt his dad’s wallet.

Nayeem Khan, 20, said his father Kamal Khan, 53, had to recuperate for days after the enraged fare attacked him near Kissena Blvd. and 71st Ave. in Kew Gardens Hills on Aug. 5.

“He had to stay home for four days afterward,” Khan said. A biting-mad cab customer chomped her taxi driver’s arm after she thought he didn’t give her correct change, police said Thursday.

Khan said his dad needed to get a regular state driver’s license again because his wallet was stolen in the incident.

“Of course I feel bad ... insecure ... he drives at night,” Nayeem Khan said. “It’s really risky for someone like him to drive at night.”

Police released video of the bizarre Queens incident, taken by a concerned motorist, in the hopes someone will identify the toothy attacker.

The incident began when the woman flagged down the 53-year-old cabbie at about 5:30 a.m. at a gas station at 31st St. and Astoria Blvd. in Astoria, police said.

She wanted a ride to Kissena Blvd. and 71st Ave., and he obliged, cops said. She paid the fare, but when he gave her change, she accused him of not giving back the right amount, cops said.

First, she refused to leave the taxi, and when the cabbie tried to pull her out, she hopped into the driver’s seat, bit his right arm and locked herself inside, police said.

She unlocked the door after that, then ran off with the driver’s wallet, stuffed with $200 and several credit cards, cops said.

She ran into a nearby apartment building and vanished.

The cabbie was treated at an area hospital.

Police are asking anyone with information about the woman to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
