Woman, 79, dies in B’klyn fire

Fire ripped through a threestory Brooklyn home Saturday, killing a 79-year-old wheelchair-bound woman, officials said.

The blaze started about 8:40 p.m. in the basement of the Quincy St. home near Bedford Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The victim, Elizabeth Mahone, was disabled after a stroke, said neighbors.

Firefighte­rs found Mahone in the first-floor living room. Medics were unable to revive her, and she was declared dead at the scene.

“She's lived here her whole life. She was sick for awhile,” said neighbor Mary Jackson, who was distraught over her friend's death.

FDNY fire marshals will determine the cause of the fire.
