Statue protester mocks Don’s fashion sense

- BY STEPHEN REX BROWN

A woman arrested for scaling the Statue of Liberty sported a Trumpian red tie Tuesday during a hearing on her case.

Therese Okoumou wore a custom dress with the words “impeach” and “resign” at Manhattan Federal Court. But the most eye-catching part of her outfit was a red tie that was so long it dragged behind her.

President Trump frequently wears a red tie that dangles well below his belt.

“This here is the Trump tie!” Okoumou said. “He always wears it the wrong way. He’s not into fashion.”

She spoke after a brief hearing in which a judge set her trial date for Nov. 5. She faces three misdemeanors for her July 4 protest that resulted in an evacuation of Liberty Island and a nearly four-hour standoff.

She faces a maximum of 18 months in prison for the protest against Trump’s family separation policy at the border.
