Man shot before Ice Cube concert

Chaos erupted when a man fired a gun into the air and was shot by a cop before the start of a concert by rapper Ice Cube Sunday night at the Del Mar Racetrack in California.

According to witnesses and concertgoe­rs, the crowd was getting impatient entering the venue 20 miles north of San Diego for the performanc­e by Ice Cube (photo) that was to follow the races.

A person reportedly pulled out a gun and fired, according to CBS8.com. A deputy opened fire and the suspect was shot.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that one person was “down” and taken to the hospital, but did not confirm the nature of their injuries.

At 7:22 p.m. local time, the Del Mar Racetrack tweeted that the “situation has been contained” and said the concert “is moving forward as planned.” By 8:30 p.m., the concert was underway.

The crowd on Sunday was among the largest of the season, approachin­g the meethigh of 33,112 for opening day, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
