Goon gets 9 years for beat horror
A would-be mugger who brutally attacked a 61-year-old woman on the Lower East Side near her home last year was sentenced to nine years in prison Wednesday.
Devin Brown, 25, previously copped to attempted murder in the heartless robbery, which left the woman bleeding from the brain and motionless as he rummaged through her pockets around 6 a.m. on May 20, 2017.
Brown punched the victim, knocking her to the pavement, without being provoked, prosecutors said.
Brown had repeatedly slammed her head against the ground. A prosecutor at his arraignment last year said Brown stomped on her head and kicked her repeatedly.
He only stopped the beating on Forsyth St. near Stanton St. when a good Samaritan driving by interrupted the attack, according to prosecutors.
The victim needed to be intubated at a hospital after the assault.
