Yes, I tried to kidnap friend

- Shayna Jacobs

A New Jersey man who orchestrated the kidnapping of his pal so he could steal $1.8 million in cryptocurrency pleaded guilty Wednesday in exchange for a decade behind bars.

Louis Meza, 35, admitted to luring his friend into a minivan — which he claimed was an Uber — so that a group of alleged bandits could blindfold him and stick him up at gunpoint, bringing him to his apartment, which they looted for access to his Ether wallet.

Meza, of Jersey City. copped to grand larceny and kidnapping charges in Manhattan Supreme Court in connection to the bizarre Nov. 4 incident, which began when prosecutors say he and three members of a Bronx biker gang delivered the victim in a fake livery car to his own home.

On the way there, one suspect held what was believed to be a gun to the cyber-millionaire’s head, and the victim was forced to give up his 24-word passphrase. When they got to his house, the thieves were able to access his trove of cyber cash, prosecutors said.
