CDC’s sour warning on sweet cereal
The Centers for Disease Control has some not-sosweet news for fans of Honey Smacks.
The Kellogg's wheat cereal has been linked to a multistate outbreak of salmonella, prompting the CDC to issue a pointed warning to consumers: don't eat it.
The cereal, was initially recalled in June, but the number of illnesses has continued to rise, and now stands at 130 cases across 36 states.
States with the most cases include New York, Pennsylvania and California, which all notched between 11 and 15. Thirtyfour people have been hospitalized since the outbreak began.
