Don finds new demon in Dimon
President Trump went after billionaire banker Jamie Dimon on Thursday, insulting his intelligence and calling him a “nervous mess.”
The blistering missive came in response to Dimon raising the possibility of running against Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
“The problem with banker Jamie Dimon running for President is that he doesn’t have the aptitude or ‘smarts’ & is a poor public speaker & nervous mess,” Trump tweeted shortly after dawn.
Other than that, “he is wonderful,” Trump continued. “I’ve made a lot of bankers, and others, look much smarter than they are with my great economic policy!”
The Trump-endorsed Republican tax bill passed by Congress last year disproportionately benefitted corporations and the rich.
Dimon (inset), 62, declined to comment.
The JPMorgan Chase CEO made headlines Wednesday after he took a swipe at Trump during an event at his bank’s headquarters on Park Ave.
“I think I could beat Trump,” Dimon, 62, told the crowd. “Because I’m as tough as he is, I’m smarter than he is. I would be fine. He could punch me all he wants, it wouldn’t work with me. I’d fight right back.”
But Dimon backpedaled after his comments were published by multiple media outlets.
“I should not have said it. I’m not running for President,” Dimon said in a statement.
Dimon, who has an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion, served on Trump’s strategic and policy forum until it was disbanded last summer. He has regularly criticized Trump over his policies on immigration and trade.
