Don has a bawl over hit on wall
President Trump trashed Senate Republicans on Thursday for passing a “ridiculous” spending bill that doesn't earmark funding for his longpromised border wall with Mexico.
“I want to know, where is the money for Border Security and the WALL in this ridiculous spending bill, and where will it come from after the Midterms?” Trump tweeted. “Dems are obstructing Law Enforcement and Border Security.”
Trump — who once upon time maintained that Mexico would pay for his behemoth border barrier — added, “REPUBLICANS MUST FINALLY GET TOUGH!”
The blistering missive came on the heels of the Senate passing an $854 billion spending bill that will keep the government running through Dec. 7. The measure was passed by a 93-7 vote and aims to put off the contentious funding fight over Trump's wall until after the midterm elections.
The legislation still needs to be voted on by the House, and it remains unclear whether Trump would sign it if it doesn't include funding for his wall. The President has toyed with the idea of shutting down the government if his demands aren't met.
Democrats have conceded to allotting $1.6 billion to Trump's wall in 2019, but that's a far cry from the $5 billion he has requested.
During the campaign, Trump insisted that the Mexican government would pay for the southern border wall.
However, since taking office, Trump has switched course, demanding Congress ensures that American taxpayers foot the bill.
