N-word cop sues NYPD and demands job back
An NYPD cop who was stripped of her gun and shield after an old video surfaced of her teaching a 2year-old niece to use the N-word is suing the department, demanding she be reinstated.
In the federal civil rights lawsuit filed Monday, Delinda Giraldo claims that the video of her encouraging the niece to drop N-bombs was recorded years before she joined the NYPD and was put on social media by a spurned lover — another police officer — who had physically and psychologically abused her during their relationship.
That cop, married Police Officer Michael Martinez, is listed as a defendant in the lawsuit, as well as the city and Police Commissioner James O’Neill, who has left Giraldo’s career in limbo for more than a year.
