Pair had AR-15, child in car: cops

- BY THOMAS TRACY

A Georgia couple traveling to New York were arrested at the Holland Tunnel early Saturday after cops found an AR-15 assault rifle and a handgun in their backseat — next to the woman’s 8-year-old daughter, authorities said.

Port Authority Police flagged Hitesh Harji and Porsha Outlaw’s car at 6 a.m. and ordered it out of the tunnel because it was towing a trailer, which is prohibited.

As they backed out, a cop noticed Harji, who was in the passenger seat, had a gun next to him, sources said.

The butt of the gun could be seen between the console and the seat.

Officers took the pair into custody and found the AR-15 and another handgun stowed next to Outlaw’s daughter in the backseat, authorities said.

Some hollow point bullets, a pair of brass knuckles and marijuana were also found in the car, cops said.

The couple, who were moving to the city from Georgia, said they own the guns. The man had expired Georgia permits for the three firearms and said he worked for a bodega in the city and needed the weapons “for protection,” sources said.

They are now facing weapons possession charges.

The girl was released to family members, authorities said.
