White House not ‘micromanaging’
President Trump and his administration haven’t set any limits on the FBI investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Sunday.
“The Senate is dictating the terms,” Sanders said on Fox News Sunday, saying there was no “micromanaging.”
But the press secretary warned that the White House won’t allow it to “become a fishing expedition like the Democrats would like to see it be.”
Kellyanne Conway echoed that sentiment — and phrase — on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “It’s not meant to be a fishing expedition,” she said.
The parameters of the FBI probe are still unclear, only that the investigation will take no more than a week and will be limited to “current credible allegations” against Kavanaugh. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) did not specify which allegations are considered credible.
