Protesters swarm D.C. - but to no avail

-

Thousands of protesters surged onto the front steps of the Supreme Court Saturday, many chanting “Kavanaugh has got to go,” moments after President Trump's embattled pick for the nation's high court was approved by the Senate.

Demonstrators congregated on the Cass Gilbertdesigned stairs after rallying across Washington throughout the day as Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation was approved by a razor-thin margin.

When the vote was over, protesters headed for the Supreme Court building, across the street from the U.S. Capitol. They carried signs and chanted, “We believe survivors.”

Some banged on the Court's locked doors. Kavanaugh was sworn inside the building in a private ceremony.

Officers blocked the entrance to the court and stood face to face with the screaming protesters.
