Dirty lying Skelos hit with 4yrs.

- BY SHAYNA JACOBS, STEPHEN REX BROWN

Dean Skelos, the disgraced former state Senate majority leader, was sentenced Wednesday to four years and three months in prison for using his powerful position to secure no-show jobs for his son.

The Nassau County Republican’s surly scion, Adam Skelos, received a four-year sentence.

The extra three monthstint for the elder Skelos was an “enhancement,” Judge Kimba Wood said during the sentencing, due to the exGOP legislator’s “repeated mischaracterizations and lies” on the witness stand during his retrial. Skelos’ son was not present and was sentenced separately by Wood roughly an hour later.

The proceeding revealed that Adam, 36, and Dean have become deeply estranged. Adam, who is adopted, has reconnected with his biological parents, Dean said.

This was the second time the fatherson duo had been sentenced. In 2016 Dean was sentenced to five years in prison and Adam got six and a half for bribery and extortion charges. But they won a retrial based on a subsequent U.S. Supreme Court decision that redefined what constitutes bribery of a public official.

Dean Skelos was once one of Albany’s “Three Men in a Room” who controlled the state budget. Soon after becoming the state’s most powerful Republican in 2011, the Nassau County pol began pressuring businesses with interests before the state to give Adam jobs worth $300,000.
