Man using dating app Grindr got robbers instead

- BY THOMAS TRACY

A crew of crooks used a gay dating app to get into a victim’s Washington Heights home — then robbed the man blind, officials said.

Police on Friday released surveillance images of the thieves in the hopes someone recognizes them for the Aug. 15 robbery on W. 187th St. near Broadway.

The 32-year-old victim told police that he invited a man he met on the dating app Grindr to his home at about 9 p.m., officials said.

But when the potential paramour showed up, he held the door open, allowing five of his accomplices to come inside.

Two of the thieves attacked the victim and held him down as the others ransacked the apartment, taking $400 in cash, a credit card, a MetroCard and a pair of headphones.

The victim suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene after his attackers fled the apartment, cops said.

Investigators tracked their movements to a nearby grocery, where they were able to get surveillance images of five of the six suspects (above) .

Five are described as black between 20 and 25 years old. Two of the men wore baseball caps, one with the word “Raw” on it while another wore a headband, cops said. A fourth suspect sported glasses and a man bun.

The sixth suspect is a light-skinned woman with frosted black hair, cops said. She was wearing ripped blue jeans and a tank top.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of these suspects is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
