Life for fatal Dad’s Day beat

- BY MIKEY LIGHT AND NANCY DILLON

The Coney Island dad convicted of beating his toddler daughter into a fatal coma during a Father’s Day visit last year was sentenced to 25 years to life Wednesday.

Before hearing his fate, Shaquan Taylor, who was 18 at the time of the slaying, asked for leniency through his lawyer benever cause of his age.

The judge said such mercy wasn’t an option because Taylor (photo) already had a prior violent offense settled with his youth in mind.

Taylor was convicted of murder last month when a jury found he pummeled his 16month-old daughter Nylah Lewis so badly on June 18, 2017, she ended up in a coma with a fractured skull. Devastated mom Tammy Lewis told the court Wednesday she’ll recover from the experience of removing little Nylah from life support five days later. “When I had to make the decision to take her off life support, it was so hard. It was like a part of me died, too,” Lewis said in a victim impact statement read to the judge by Assistant District Attorney Frank Degaetano. Taylor’s also sentence included five years for assaulting Lewis.
