Locklear on psych hold at hospital over crackup
Heather Locklear was reportedly placed on a psychiatric hold Sunday, the latest obstacle for the actress whose year has been plagued by a string of arrests and hospitalizations.
The “Melrose Place” star was at her home in California when her therapist and lawyer “realized she desperately needed help,” and determined she was having a mental breakdown, TMZ reports.
EMTs arrived as a “health precaution” and Locklear (photo) was reportedly transported to the hospital.
Her condition remains unclear, and her rep did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Locklear entered rehab for the second time in four months in July in order to seek long-term treatment for substance abuse and mental health. She reportedly left in October.
Her decision to seek help came after two hospitalizations in June; one after a concerned family member told police she was going to use a gun to hurt herself, and another after a possible overdose.
The overdose came just hours after Locklear was arrested and later charged with three criminal charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer and EMT. She pleaded not guilty in August.
One of the paramedics injured during the altercation sued Locklear earlier this month.
Locklear was also arrested in February on suspicion of domestic violence after police responded to a 911 call to her home and found boyfriend Chris Heisser with a “traumatic” injury.
She resisted arrest, and pushed and kicked the responding deputies, leading to four counts of battery on a peace officer and one count of resisting arrest.
