Jerk, urine a lotta trouble
Drunk in video pees by angels at church before smashing them – hate crime eyed
What a pee-brain.
An apparently intoxicated hipster urinated in front of religious statues outside a Brooklyn church then smashed two of them to pieces, cops said Monday.
The disrespectful drunk relieved himself about 4 a.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church on Metropolitan Ave. near Berry St. in Williamsburg, then pushed the statues over, destroying them, startling surveillance video shows.
He staggered away south on Metropolitan Ave. toward Bedford Ave.
On Monday, Vicar Andrew Wasko said he was shocked someone would deface religious statuary.
“It’s a shame” he said. “Because what’s wrong with those statues?”
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is trying to track down the man in the video. The suspect is described as white, about 30 years old, 6 feet tall and 190 pounds with a light complexion and straight, short brown hair. He was wearing a dark colored pea coat, beige slacks and Vans sneakers.
Asked what he’d say to the suspect, Wasko said, “Don’t drink, and honor everything as you honor everything in your life.”
Wasko explained the statues are angels and have spiritual meanings.
Parishioners, many of them Polish, condemned the act of vandalism, which has happened at the church before.
“This is bad,” one parishioner said. “This is the third or fourth time it broke.”
Wasko confirmed other statues were knocked over three or four times and the last time it happened was in the spring.
“I know there are a lot of bad people around,” another parishioner said. “What we can do? We can just pray.”
