Kit: I was ‘Throne’ into terror

- BY NELSON OLIVEIRA

When beloved “Game of Thrones” character Jon Snow was killed at the end of the show’s fifth season — spoiler alert! — many fans were left in agony through the yearlong cliff-hanger.

It turns out it wasn’t just fans who didn’t take that death so well. Kit Harington, who portrays the famous character (inset), said the event — along with the increased spotlight that resulted — was “terrifying” and contributed to his decision to seek therapy.

“When you become the cliffhanger of a TV show, and a TV show probably at the height of its power, the focus on you is f—-ing terrifying,” he told Variety in an interview published this week.

The English actor, who’s now 32, was in his 20s when his character was briefly killed on the HBO show. The scene, which came in the season finale, put an intense focus on him at a delicate time in his life.

Harington told Variety he would often read reviews about the show and disagree when people called Jon Snow a “boring” character in the early seasons. But as his character grew more important to the show, and then died, the pressure had a negative effect on him.

“You get people shouting at you on the street, ‘Are you dead?’ ” he told Variety. “At the same time you have to have this appearance. All of your neuroses — and I’m as neurotic as any actor — get heightened with that level of focus.”

It was around that time the Emmy-nominated actor started therapy. “I had felt very unsafe, and I wasn’t talking to anyone,” he said in the interview. “I had to feel very grateful for what I have, but I felt incredibly concerned about whether I could even f—-ing act.”

Jon Snow was resurrected at the beginning of Season 6.

The award-winning show returns for its eighth and final season April 14.
