McCain: Dad would laugh at Don’s ire
The back-and-forth jabs between the McCain family and Trump continued Wednesday, with Meghan McCain saying her late father would find the fiasco “hilarious.” “I think if I had told my dad, seven months after you’re dead, you’re gonna be dominating the news and all over Twitter, he would think it was so hilarious that our President was so jealous of him that he was dominating the news cycle in death,” the daughter of Sen. John McCain said on “The View.” Meghan (photo) also tweeted a Latin phrase she said he used to say to her: Illegitimi non carborundum.
It translates to “don’t let the bastards grind you down.”
Her comments came after the President said he was “never a fan of John McCain and [he] never will be.”
McCain, a longtime Republican senator and 2008 Republican presidential nominee, died in August.
Meghan McCain urged the public not to worry about her and her family.
“We are blessed. We are a family of privilege,” she said. “Feel bad for people out there who are being bullied that don’t have support.”
Earlier this week, she ripped Trump days after he went after her father on Twitter.
“Listen, he spends his weekend obsessing over great men because he knows it, and I know it, and all of you know it: He will never be a great man,” she said.
Trump tweeted Saturday that the late Arizona senator had numerous “stains” in his political career, including his link to the leaking of the Russian dossier and vote against repealing Obamacare. The dossier contained numerous salacious but unproven information about Trump.
