Missing preg woman found with baby

A pregnant woman who walked out of a city shelter and seemingly disappeared sparked panic overnight when residents discovered bloodstains around her room — but police later found her and her healthy newborn son in a Brooklyn hospital.

The search for Annie Sharp, 37, began shortly after noon on Thursday when police were called to the Travel Inn on W. 42nd St., a hotel that also houses shelter residents. Police found a significant amount of blood in Sharp’s room — on the rug, bed and floor, but no sign of Sharp.

She hadn’t been heard from in at least a couple of days, and someone at the Travel Inn had heard loud noises coming from a bathroom.

A review of surveillance video captured Sharp last Saturday, with a blanket, possibly wrapped around a baby, a police source said on Friday.

Cops fanned out across Times Square searching for Sharp and checking trash cans to make sure she hadn’t met with foul play and that she hadn’t done something to her baby.

What they didn’t know at the time, but would discover hours later on Thursday, was that earlier in the week cops in Brooklyn had responded to a 911 call about an emotionally disturbed woman with a baby at a subway station in Bushwick, police said.

The woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital for a psychiatric examination, and her baby was placed in the custody of the Administration for Children’s Services.

After police released Sharp’s picture to the media and cops around the city were advised of the search, those involved in the subway incident remembered her and reviewed body camera footage from the officers who had responded.
