Shot dead outside B’klyn catering hall

- BY THOMAS TRACY

Shootings in the Bronx and Brooklyn left one man dead and another seriously wounded and rattled tenants in an apartment house who were fired on from the sidewalk.

Just after 10 p.m. Friday, Courtney Tingle, 26, was gunned down outside a Brooklyn catering hall on Washington Ave. near Dean St. in Prospect Heights, where he had been attending an event.

Witnesses told police that before the shooting, in which Tingle was repeatedly shot in the chest, he had argued with another man at the party.

Medics took Tingle to New York Methodist Hospital, where he died. No arrests have been made.

Hours earlier in the Bronx, a 38year-old motorist was hospitalized with extensive injuries after a gunman stormed up to his parked car and fired several rounds into it as the man sat behind the wheel, cops said.

A surveillance video released by police Saturday shows the gunman firing at least four shots into the white car at Forest Ave. near E. 166th St. in Morrisania about 3 p.m.

The victim was hit in the face, arm and body. Medics took him to Lincoln Hospital. He is expected to survive. No arrests have been made.

The gunman, who ran off, is described as black with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, a white baseball cap and darkcolored jeans and sneakers.

Police were trying to determine why the victim was targeted.

Police said they are investigating another Bronx shooting in which a gunman opened fire into a crowded lobby at a Bronx housing project.

Eight people were in the lobby of the building at the Moore Houses near E. 149th St. in Mott Haven when the gunman fired two rounds in their direction at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.

A surveillance video obtained by police shows a lookout peering into the lobby before the masked gunman pulls his weapon, gets into a shooting stance and opens fire.

Miraculously, no one was hit, cops said.
