TORRES ENDS YANKS’ SKID

The quick turnaround was bad enough, but the Mets had no idea it was about to get worse.

On top of playing a Wednesday night game in Miami, prior to hopping on a three-hour flight to Queens for their Thursday afternoon home opener, two Mets players were forced to take drug tests before being allowed to leave Mar- lins Park.

One of those players was Dominic Smith.

The first baseman had a difficult time completing the test in a timely fashion, due to his lack of urine at the end of the game.

“They had to wait for me to pee,” Smith said. “Bus was at 10:05, I got done peeing at 10:45. They had to wait. But I

mean, it got us out of batting practice today. So some people are happy about that.”

The league-enforced drug tests are performed randomly throughout the season. It’s a confidenti­al process, so as to nab the players on the list without giving them a heads up. The Mets were informed of the test during the ninth inning of their 6-4 win against the Marlins on Wednesday.

Normally, the players that take the drug test will hang back at the clubhouse, while the rest of the team takes the bus to the hotel. However, since the Mets were set to embark on a charter plane for a flight to New York, the entire staff had to wait for Smith to finish.

Smith said he started chugging water in the ninth inning – as soon as he learned he was one of the two selected players for the test.

“I went, but I didn’t go enough,” Smith said. “I had to wait until my bladder was ready to go. It took another 35-40 minutes.”

Thus, the Mets were delayed even further in their attempt to catch a flight home. Traveling players did
