School aide in sex rap
Cops: Woman molested female student for two years
A teacher’s aide at a school for children with disabilities was arrested Thursday over accusations she had “extended” sexual contact with a girl from the school — and engaged in on-campus sex, officials said.
Aleida Rosario, 45, a Department of Education paraprofessional assigned to Manhattan High School in Hell’s Kitchen, was arrested Thursday after police were alerted to the molestation. She pleaded not guilty to three counts of criminal sex acts and was was released without bail.
“The relationship went on for an extended period of time,” a police source said.
Manhattan High School is a small city high school for students who need specialized education. Court documents show that Rosario’s victim enrolled there in her sophomore year because of behavioral problems.
The victim’s grandmother told police that at first Rosario was a “mother figure” who took the girl under her wing, according to court papers.
But at the end of the 2015 school year, that changed. Rosario began flirting with the then-16 year-old student, texting and calling her at all hours and even asking her how lesbian sex works, court documents allege.
Prosecutors say Rosario invited the student to her house in June 2015, picking the teen up from her home in West Harlem and driving the girl to Bogota, N.J., where Rosario lived with her husband.
There, Rosario told the teen to stay the night and made her fake a call to her grandmother asking permission to sleep over, so Rosario’s husband would not get angry, according to prosecutors.
That night, Rosario allegedly fibbed to her husband about the girl being afraid of the dark, and spent slept in the guest room with her student.
Rosario kissed the teen and performed oral sex on her, prosecutors said.
For the next two years, until 2017, authorities say, Rosario engaged in sexual contact with the girl almost daily.
On July 8, 2015, during summer school at the school, Rosario received oral sex from the student and appeared to orgasm in the back of a classroom during school hours, prosecutors said.
Ten days later, after the teen auditioned for and got a callback from “The Voice” television show, Rosario performed oral sex on her in a car near the Javits Center “in celebration,” prosecutors charge.
That fall, Rosario performed oral sex on the victim while parked in Riverside Park near 96th Street before school, authorities said.
The girl reported the relationship to the police in 2017 when she realized how wrong it was, prosecutors said.
But Rosario allegedly continued to call the student.
In a recorded phone call, Rosario admitted to kissing the girl when she was 16, prosecutors said.
Rosario also repeatedly told the teen to delete any evidence of the abuse, prosecutors said. Some evidence was recovered from the student’s Google Drive account, according to court papers.
Education Department spokesman Doug Cohen said Rosario, who’s worked in city schools since 1998 and has no history of discipline reports, was suspended from her $40,809 job when officials learned of the allegations in February 2018.
“There is absolutely no place in our schools for anyone who would engage in such despicable alleged behavior,” he said. “We immediately suspended Ms. Rosario without pay in 2018 once we were made aware of this allegation.”
Rosario couldn’t be reached for comment. But her lawyer, Andrew Stoll, said the student can’t be trusted.
“This is an accuser with an unfortunate history of psychiatric hospitalizations and a pattern of making similar false accusations,” said Stoll, who noted that prosecutors had been working on the case for at least 13 months. “We’re convinced a jury will find Aleida not guilty.”
