Cops probe punch rap vs. Remy Ma
Rapper Remy Ma is under investigation by the NYPD after a fellow reality television star accused her of punching her at a benefit concert at Irving Plaza near Union Square featuring Fat Joe, sources said Thursday.
Brittney Taylor, 29, a star of “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” says Remy Ma, 38, who has tangled with her on the show, slammed a fist into her right eye during the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Ma was slated to perform at the concert.
Taylor suffered bruising to her right eye and was treated at a local hospital. She reported the incident to police the next day.
She later posted a picture of her black eye to Instagram and wrote, “So, here am I on my way to a very important meeting and it’s hard to even focus because of what occurred last night. I didn’t wanna bring it to social media because Its pretty embarrassing and not a good look tbh. I tried my best to cover it up with make up and move on but that still didn’t work. My Question is @remyma why did you really do this?”
Ma, listed under the name Remy Smith by police, has not been charged but cops are investigating.
On Thursday, Taylor retained lawyer Sanford Rubenstein to represent her. “She wants Remy Ma prosecuted for what she did to her,” Rubenstein said.
In 2007, Ma was arrested for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph, wounding her in the chest, after accusing her of stealing $1,000 from her. She was released from prison after serving six years in May 2014. She is technically still on parole for that crime until Aug. 1.
Ma rose to fame as a member of Fat Joe’s Terror Squad group, where she is one of five rappers to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 chart.
The concert was a fundraiser on behalf of New York Presbyterian Children’s Hospital and the Eleamor and Lou Gehrig ALS Center for Leukemia and ALS.
