Rudy: Don’s as truthful as he can be

- BY BRIAN NIEMIETZ

President Trump’s personal lawyer thinks his client is as truthful as he can be in a world where people are challenged for saying things that are false.

He also sees no issue with the president getting by with a little help from his Russian friends.

“Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd pressed Rudy Giuliani on both those issues Sunday, which included asking point-blank if Trump is a “truthful” person.

“I— I believe he’s truthful, yeah, as much as he can be in a world in which every single word you say is picked apart,” the former mayor said. “If you say four and it’s actually five they say you’re lying.”

A moment earlier Todd asked Giuliani if Trump was “the most truthful client” he’d ever represented as a lawyer. Giuliani struggled to answer that question headon.

“I represent probably the most important client I’ve ever had with regard to the future of the United States, yes,” he said. “Because he’s been a great president.”

Giuliani (photo) further argued there may be times where it’s OK for a U.S. political candidate to use information obtained by a foreign government to aid them in their own campaign.

“Depends on the stolen material,” he said.

It’s Giuliani’s contention, which Todd resisted, that media outlets including NBC frequently rely on stolen documents.

“I hope not often,” Todd said.

The president’s lawyer made similar comments to CNN’s “State of the Nation” Sunday when he argued, “There’s nothing wrong with taking information from Russians.”
